If you are an employer, self employed person or a worker who is carrying out maintenance or refurbishment work in any building which has materials within it, or on it that are likely to contain any type of asbestos…..and even though you don’t handle it, then you must by law undergo at least asbestos awareness training to comply with the HSE legal requirements!
‘How will you know if the building does contain asbestos’…?
Simple! The building owner must have had a survey carried out to find this out, your employer must have or request this information before you start work.
Did you know?
Asbestos was not banned until 1999! therefore any building built or refurbished before that date could potentially contain asbestos.
