THE CONTROL OF ASBESTOS REGULATIONS 2006

*The requirement to carry ‘minor works’ training ACOP L143*

The Regulations reflect requirements set out in the European Union Asbestos Workers’ Protection Directive. The new Regulations now include three levels of training which should be given to employees, this includes; training for non-licensable asbestos work, persons requiring this type of training would include those whose work will knowingly disturb ACMs, such as maintenance workers and their supervisors;

Topics covered include:

A brief history of the uses of asbestos

Asbestos type’s properties and risks

The effects of asbestos on workers health

The type’s uses and risks of ACM’s in buildings and plant

Procedures to deal with accidental exposure to asbestos

How to avoid the risks of ACM’s in buildings

Selection and use of the correct PPE and RPE

Maintaining your RPE and the relevance of face fit testing

Use control measures used on site for dust suppression

Cleaning down the work area

Cleanliness of plant and equipment

Correct waste handling on site

Practical session (optional).

This course is only offered as an in-house option, by arranging an in-house training course we come to you, by utilising in-house training it becomes considerably more cost effective, a ‘one off’ fixed price covers up to the maximum number of delegates allowed on the course, this significantly reduces individual costs per delegate.

This type of training can be given to employees whose work involves the removal, repair or disturbance of materials which fall outside the scope of Regulation 8 and 9 of The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006, which details the requirements to hold a licence and notify the works. When practical training is required a suitable facility will be required.

This training is suitable for works such as:

Cement facias
