- Overview of the health effects of exposure.
- Types, risks and locations of ACM’s in buildings.
- Legislative requirements on building owners and employers;
- Requirements on Domestic building owners.
- Developing an asbestos management strategy.
- Planning surveys and survey monitoring.
- The survey report and compilation of management plans /registers (HSG 264).
- Material assessments (HSG 264).
- Priority assessments (HSG 227).
- Management options for control of risks.
- Identification, appointment of licensed asbestos removal contractors
- Understanding safe asbestos removal
- The role of the analyst. and the certificate of re-occupation
Aims and objectives of this course:
To provide a practical guide and adequate knowledge using current HSE guidance and ACOP’s to enable the delegate to minimise the risks to employees and occupants from asbestos containing materials within buildings. On completion of the course, delegates should be able to demonstrate necessary competence to implement procedures in line with The Control of Asbestos Regulations with particular reference to commissioning surveys, understanding risk assessments to manage asbestos in buildings. The course will provide the delegate with a basic knowledge of asbestos removal procedures and the identification, appointment and control of an asbestos removal contractor. Each delegate will be assessed by the use of practical assessments and multi choice examination at the end of the course.
Course duration.
It is envisaged this course would be run over 31/2 days with 21/2 days for the theory elements of the course and a further 1 day for the examination and practical assessment. Where clients require the course to be held on ‘block release’ this can be arranged POA.
Cost Effective Training
The UKASL P405 Management of asbestos can accommodate up to 15 delegates held in-house. Unlike other proficiency courses there are NO ADDITIONAL EXAMINATION FEES there is no pre-qualification to undertake this course.
