The Regulations reflect requirements set out in the European Union Asbestos Workers’ Protection Directive. The new Regulations now include the duty that employers shall provide appropriate training for all workers who are likely to be exposed to asbestos.
This course is suitable for employees whose employers hold a valid HSE licence to carry out ancillary works maintaining NPU’s.
This course provides engineers with knowledge and understanding of asbestos, the risks from asbestos, and ACM’s in plant and equipment and precautions to be taken when carrying out works ancillary to asbestos removal contracts.
Course content is delivered via theory and practical training methods (when applicable). The training will be carried out in accordance with the Health and Safety Executive document HSG 247 ‘chapter 4’
Topics covered include:
- Types uses and risk factors of asbestos
- Health effects of exposure to asbestos
- Typical ACM’s and their risks
- Types and uses of PPE
- Types and uses of RPE
- Decontamination procedures
- Emergency procedures for dealing with accidental exposure.
This course is only offered as an in-house option, by arranging an in-house trainingcourse we come to you, by utilising in-house training it becomes considerably more cost effective, a ‘one off’ fixed price covers up to the maximum number of delegates allowed on the course, this significantly reduces individual costs per delegate.
