Safe Use of Ladders and Stepladders
(duration ½ day) Max 15 per session

The Work at Height Regulations 2005

In 2004/2005 53 people died and nearly 3800 suffered a serious injury as a result of a fall from height in the workplace. Falls from height are the most common cause of fatal injury and the second most common cause of major injury to employees, As a result, Falls from Height are a key priority in the HSE enforcement programme.

The HSE’s stance on the use of ladders and Stepladders on site.....?.....the HSE champions sensible health and safety and the Work at Height Regulations 2005 do not ban ladders but say they should be used only when all other safer alternatives for work at height have been ruled out.  A risk assessment must show that the task is low risk and of short duration, or that there are site features that mean other equipment is not appropriate.  If so, then ladders can be used.

This training course is intended to help employers, employees and the self employed to:

know when to use a ladder

decisions about selecting the right sort of ladder for the particular job

understand how to use it

know how to look after it

take sensible safety precautions.

This course is only offered as an in-house option, by arranging an in-house training course we come to you, by utilising in-house training it becomes considerably more cost effective, a ‘one off’ fixed price covers up to the maximum number of delegates allowed on the course, this significantly reduces individual costs per delegate.
